What is a wet hop, you may ask? Wet hops are simply hops that have been picked right from the vine and rushed to the brewery to maintain freshness. And we used 30 lbs of wet Cascades in the kettle! Using wet hops results in fresh, just-in-from-outdoors flavor and aroma, so this beer is a nice harvest time foil to the dark and malty beers that (appropriately) pervade draft lists this time of year.
The base beer for Harvest Deluxe Wet Hopped Lager is 70% Canadian Pale Ale Malt which is a significantly distinct pale ale malt from Southwest Canada. It is known for its burly but smooth malt flavors. There are few specialty malts just to round the beer out but the Canadian Pale is front and center.
The aroma is totally malt-forward with a light fog of hop aroma. The malt, hop bitterness, and hop flavors are exquisitely combined for a refreshing and delicately hoppy beer that gives you the clean and crisp drinking experience we have come to be known for.
