FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 20th, 2017

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Wolverine State Brewing Co. is excited to announce our upcoming participation in SAVOR, an annual gathering billed as the nation’s premier beer and food pairing event, which features beers from all over the country paired with artisanal small plates. This year’s event takes place at Washington, D.C.’s National Building Museum on June 2nd and 3rd.

The brewery’s participation in SAVOR involves sending representatives to the event as well as sending two beers, which are paired ahead of time with carefully crafted small plates. The two beers selected to be featured at the event were Raucher Smoked Lager -- our 2016 Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal winner and 2016 World Beer Cup Bronze Medal winner -- and Barista Coffee Lager, the brewery’s very popular and best-selling specialty brew made with coffee from Ann Arbor’s Roos Roast.

Wolverine State was one of 86 breweries randomly selected from a pool of more than 300 applicants. Other Michigan breweries participating include Arcadia Ales and New Holland Brewing Co.

Now in its 10th year, SAVOR features beer from both large- and small-scale American craft breweries. SAVOR prides itself on 100% owner or head brewer attendance from all breweries represented at the event. Tickets are available for BA Members beginning March 21st and to the general public on March 22nd. For more information, please visit savorcraftbeer.com.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 23, 2017
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Wolverine State Brewing Co. and Sunseed Farm are partnering up to bring great beer and great vegetables to Ann Arborites. On Tuesday nights from 5-7pm beginning on January 24th, Wolverine State will host one of Sunseed Farm’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) pickups in the Tap Room at 2019 W. Stadium Blvd. on Ann Arbor’s West Side. CSA members* will receive discounted pints on Tuesdays, and the two businesses plan to offer CSA and Mug Club bundle deals during the spring and summer months.

“We’re so excited to bring these two worlds together,” says Mackenzie Meter, Marketing Manager at Wolverine State. “Helping to foster growth and awareness of Sunseed Farm’s CSA program and at the same time introduce new customers to our brews is the perfect relationship.”

Tomm Becker, owner of Sunseed Farm, says “when folks pick up their weekly share of vegetables, it’s already a good time to hang out and talk.  Having a nice indoor space, friendly bartenders and delicious beer on tap?  That’s hard to resist.”

Wolverine customers have been inadvertently supporting Sunseed Farm since 2011. Back when the brewery was in its infancy, brewmaster Oliver Roberts sought out local farms to pick up some of the thousands of pounds of spent grain produced by the brewing process. Sunseed Farm was an early supporter -- the farm wanted to add fertility and organic matter to its fields, and it has been picking up grain for that purpose ever since.

Sunseed Farm is a family-owned four-season vegetable farm growing over sixty kinds of vegetables for CSA members, restaurants, and wholesale customers since 2009. Sunseed uses ecological growing practices that promote soil health and biodiversity, and pays its workers a living wage.

Wolverine State Brewing Co. opened its doors at 2019 W. Stadium on Ann Arbor’s West Side in November 2010. As Michigan’s first and only all-lager microbrewery, Wolverine State has developed recipes for nearly 70 different lagers and continues to introduce new beers every year. One of those beers, Raucher Smoked Lager, was the recipient of a Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Festival in October 2016 and a Bronze Medal from the World Beer Cup in May 2016. The Tap Room is open seven days a week, and Wolverine brews can be found in local stores and across Michigan.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 8, 2016

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Wolverine State Brewing Co is excited to announce a packaging rebrand of its flagship lagers. The update encompasses three brands: Wolverine Premium Lager, Gulo Gulo IPL, and District 16 Amber Lager, formerly known as Wolverine Amber Lager.

The new labels and carriers will be on shelves beginning in early October.

The project’s aim was to bring all labels into a cohesive line and set the stage for future seasonal and year-round bottle releases, which are set to begin in spring of 2017. The repackaging comes on the heels of a recent agreement that puts Wolverine State Brewing Co flagship bottles in Kroger locations state-wide.

The rebrand is the latest in a series of milestones for the brewery. In 2015, the company completed a 6,000 square foot on-site expansion. This expansion will bring the brewery's production capacity to nearly 5,000 barrels by the end of 2017. In May 2016, the company received a Bronze Medal from the World Beer Cup for its Raucher Smoked Lager.
