Charitable Affiliations & Community partners

At Wolverine State, we believe that giving back is the best way to help the world move forward. We work with a couple of major groups throughout the year in a charitable or community partnership capacity: the Alliance for the Great Lakes, Epic Races, and Growing Hope. We chose these two based on several important factors, including a commitment to community, health, and the environment. More information about each organization follows below:

The Alliance for the Great Lakes is an organization that works to protect, preserve, and sustain the Great Lakes for generations to come. From policy-making efforts to on-the-ground beach cleanups to sustainability how-tos, this organization strives to protect the Great Lakes in every capacity. We struck up a relationship with this organization in 2015 for multiple reasons, not least of which is the fact that water is the most important ingredient in beer. We brew Five Shores Blonde Lager as part of our relationship with the Alliance, and a portion of the proceeds of the sale of the beer is donated directly to them to help with their awesome efforts. Learn more about the Alliance here.

Epic Races is the organization behind awesome, memorable events such as the Ann Arbor Marathon, Tri Goddess, Waterloo Grit and Gravel, and the Ann Arbor Triathlon: WolverineMan, among many, many more. We are proud to be a community partner with this fantastic organization that emphasizes health, community, fun, and the pursuit of of the next level of competition, both personal and outwardly. You'll find us at the finish line of many Epic Races events doling out beer to badass athletes. Work hard, play hard, right? To register for races or find out more about Epic, visit their website.

Growing Hope is an Ypsilanti-based organization with a mission to provide access to healthy, sustainable foods, especially in underserved areas. Find them carving out community garden plots, educating children and adults about the merits of healthy, local vegetables and fruits, and coordinating farmers markets throughout the area. Their good work helps to connect people with local, healthy, sustainable food. Thursdays in June, we host a happy hour ("Hops for Hope") during which $1 of every beer sold goes right to Growing Hope. To learn more about this wonderful group and their mission, visit their website.

*In addition to our main sponsorships, we also contribute to local nonprofits, organizations, and events, such as the DX/A2 race, the Potawatomi Mountan Bike Association, community silent auctions, golf outings, and fundraisers. If you have a request for a donated item, please visit this page. While we’d love to be able to fulfill every request, we are limited on a month-to-month basis, so it’s best to get in touch with us as soon as you know you’ll need something!

We're proud to partner with the Cancer Support Community this football season! Every home game, swing by CSC's Community Tailgate on Hoover in the old Purchase Radio Supply building. Wolverine State will be on draft alongside some other awesome brews, Slow's BBQ will be slinging delicious sustenance from their food truck, and TVs donated by Big George's will be displaying the game both inside the covered area and outdoors in front of the food truck.
